The Pokémon Trading Card Game will soon have a new extension. The Pokémon Company International announced that the set Mega Evolution Chaos Rising will appear worldwide on 22 may 2026.
Enlargement brings the popular Mega Evolutions again to the Pokémon TCG and seems to focus on a confrontation between Mega Greninja and Mega Floette.
Chaos in Lumiosis City
According to the announcement the story of this set is set in Lumiosis City, true Mega Floette ex causes big trouble as soon as night falls. Trainers will need to deploy several powerful Pokémon to control the situation.
Among other things, the following Mega Evolutions will play a role in the set:
- Mega Greninja ex
- Mega Pyroar ex
- Mega Dragange ex
These Pokémon appear as Pokémon ex cards and belong to the more powerful maps within the enlargement.
New cards and rarities
The set introduces several Mega Evolution Pokémon ex, some of which appear as ultra weird cards. A special detail has been included on these cards: in the artwork is subtle the silhouette of the original Pokémon form see.
According to the first information Mega Evolution Chaos Rising including:
- 5 Mega Evolution Pokémon ex
- 5 regular Pokémon ex
- 11 Illustration Rare Pokémon
- 18 Ultra Rare Pokémon and Trainer cards
- 6 Special illustration Rare Pokémon and Supporter cards
This means that the set contains quite a few rare maps that collectors may be hunting for.
Products in which the set appears
As usual with new Pokémon TCG extensions will Chaos Rising are available in different product forms, including:
- booster packs
- Elite Trainer Boxes
- different special collection boxes
From 22 may 2026 these products will be available worldwide from participating stores.
Pre-release events from May 9
Players who do not want to wait until the official release can try the set earlier. Through the Play! Pokémon program the Prerelease tournaments organised at participating card shops.
Start these events on 9 may 2026 and give players the chance to:
- prerelease packs to open
- play the new cards in advance
- experience the set earlier

Chaos Rising is also coming to Pokémon TCG Live
Even before the physical release the expansion will appear in the digital game Pokémon TCG Live.
From 21 may 2026 players on iOS, Android, macOS and Windows already working on the new cards. In the game players will see the new Mega Evolution Pokémon ex can gather and use in battles. In addition, there are temporary in-game rewards available for players logging in around the release.
What does this mean for collectors?
The return of Mega Evolutions may cause Chaos Rising becomes a popular set among collectors. Historically Mega Pokémon often gets a lot of attention within the TCG, especially when they appear as ultra weird or special illustration weird cards.
